Tonight, the Perseids are peaking. As corny as it is to say this, they’re quite possibly my favourite meteor shower of the year. I associate them with having the free time to actually go outside and stay awake into the small hours, and also with being able to go outside without freezing my skin off (I live in Manchester).

So of course the weather forecast has to be heavy rain throughout the evening and throughout tomorrow as well.

However, if you are lucky enough to have clear skies tonight, go outside and look up! Even if you don’t see many meteors, it’s a great experience. I’m shamelessly plugging Skymania’s Perseid guide.
